Disabled Accessible

 A warm welcome is extended to disabled people.  The bungalow is not purpose-built for the disabled but has been adapted as far as practical.  All accommodation at ground level with some fixtures and fittings provided to aid balance.  In order that visitors can make an informed choice on the suitability, a summary of findings by Brighton & Hove Federation for Disabled People  as follows:

• The bungalows are accessible for:   standard manual wheelchairs, standard powered wheelchairs and standard mobility scooters.
• Side gate entrance leads to ramp access from the kerbside into the lounge/dining room.  Maximum clear opening width 65 cm  (steps lead to the front door)
• Accommodation suitable for persons with restricted walking ability and for wheelchair users who are able to stand or walk for a short distance, and for someone able to transfer to and from a wheelchair either unaided or with assistance of a carer.  It is not suitable for anyone needing mechanical assistance to aid transfer.
• Pat (volunteer) was able to move around inside with a powered wheelchair.
• It would be difficult for anyone with disabilities to stay alone but then it is a large bungalow and suitable for a family or group.
• Externally, there is an accessible secluded patio with seating and barbecue, and a pleasant but hilly garden backing onto farmland (up some steps).
• Utility room is not easily accessible.
• Electric socket in garage handy for charging motorised wheelchair.
• 18 minute walk to the picturesque seaside village of Rottingdean.
• It would be a good place to stay – quiet and comfortable
• Most wheelchair users have found the bungalow amenities satisfactory.
